Digital Marketing brought us back together

Here is a story about two women who after many years apart, drifted back into each other’s lives.

And all thanks to Digital Marketing.

I worked with Alina at an investment bank in London. I started at Rothschild as a PA and she played a huge part in my professional journey to Investor Relations.

Alina was the “mother goose” of our team. Always looking out for everyone, always helpful, she truly believed in women’s collaboration over competition long before this trend resurfaced. She used to organise girly meetings and coached myself and other young women in our team, how to thrive in the very much male orientated world of finance. Always full of energy, motivation and believe that everything can be achieved with the right mind set.

I knew back then, she had an amazing talent of putting people on the right path without them even realising it. All those years back, when she was a Managing Director of our credit funds, she was able to get through people in a way that was very unusual for the culture of investment banking. She had the ability to listen!

I left Rothschild and London in 2016 full of professional confidence pumped into me by Alina and the team.

Years were passing by and I kept seeing Alina sporadically on Facebook. We often exchanged polite “How are you” under each other’s posts whilst carrying on with our busy lives.

Until that memorable day of 25th January 2020 when I posted on my social media that I was starting Brave Mouse Digital and asking friends for their support on my new digital endeavor.

Alina and me during one of our crazy 80′ Christmas party in 2014

The very first comment that arrived under my Facebook post was from Alina! Her enthusiasm and energy was transparent, but I wasn’t surprised, she was being her usual self. She said she is now a leadership coach and runs a firm called Adaptaa, and for ages she was thinking about having social media for business but was not able to find the right fit for her team. Can you see where this is going?

We started messaging then calling and now I help Adaptaa gain digital exposure through social media channels.

During one of the phone calls, she said “Do you know Kora, that when I founded Adaptaa and I was thinking of my ideal team, I always thought of you as part of it. But you left London and I couldn’t see how this could happen. Until you posted that message on Facebook….”

As they say, the rest is history but I am so grateful she made that wish.
